MEET THE CHEROKEE NATION FILM OFFICE

The mission of the Cherokee Nation Film Office is to increase the presence of Native Americans in every level of the film and television industries, while creating opportunities for economic development and jobs in the Cherokee Nation.

For too long our stories have been incorrectly told through the lens of non-Native people, people whose narratives have no ties to our history or to our culture. With the film and television industries growing in Oklahoma, we now have the chance to correct those narratives.

One way we’re working towards that is by generating more film industry opportunities for the Cherokee Nation and its citizens. In March of 2022 we launched the Cherokee Nation Film Incentive that rewards production companies filming within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation for using Native cast and crew, and utilizing Native-owned businesses. The more we can incentivize productions to use the resources we have right here at home, the more jobs and opportunities we have for people in the Cherokee Nation.

We make it easy to find Native talent and crew with our Native directories. Any citizen of a federally recognized tribe is eligible to join our Native talent directory, including you! The Cherokee Nation Film Office wants YOU to sign up for our talent database! We are looking for actors, actresses and extras. You can also sign up for the film crew directory or as a local business owner to offer services for film productions shot in the Cherokee Nation.

You can find our booth during Holiday at the Cherokee Nation Cultural Grounds on Friday, September 2nd and Saturday, September 3rd during the Inter-tribal Powwow.

Please bring proof of Tribal Citizenship.
