A co-founder and director of the Sequoyah National Research Center since 2006, Dr. Daniel F. Littlefield Jr. has authored numerous works on Indian Territory and taught for more than 40 years. As a writing teacher, Dr. Littlefield practiced what he taught, researching and writing extensively on Indian Territory. He considers the Samuel Worcester Award a validation the faith that his teacher and long-time mentor, Dr. Angie Debo, had in him.
Dr. Littlefield enjoys volunteering in the North Little Rock Public School system, where he tutors second and third grade students in reading and mathematics. His other honors include the Oklahoma Historians Hall of Fame, the Arkansas Historical Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Phi Beta Kappa and the Key to the City of Eufaula.
