Founded in 2006, Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO) is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to food assistance, cultural preservation, youth programs, education and community outreach in Sequoyah County and surrounding communities. Its members distribute more than 219,953 pounds of food annually, along with thousands of food boxes, backpacks with school supplies, winter clothing and toys. These programs provide food and essential resources to more than 1,100 individuals each month. MCCO also operates a community garden and farmers market, hosts monthly community dinners and offers Cherokee language, history, cultural, educational and wellness programs. Through partnerships with Cherokee Nation and numerous community organizations, MCCO works to strengthen its community through service, culture and compassion.
