Dedicating years to preserving and sharing Cherokee history, Larry Rose Jr. served as caretaker, preservation advocate, tour guide and president of the John Ross House Association in Rossville, Georgia. A passionate historian and educator, he welcomed generations of visitors while sharing the history of Principal Chief John Ross and the Cherokee people. Rose especially valued opportunities to teach young people, helping students understand the importance of Cherokee history in northeast Georgia and bringing the past to life through the Chief John Ross House. His work continued a family commitment spanning more than six decades to protecting the historic home. His legacy lives on through the generations who gained a deeper connection to Cherokee heritage because of his dedication.
