Empowering people and communities is Dr. Jonathan Hook’s goal and greatest privilege. Hook’s work in support of LGBTQ+, immigrant, unhoused and formerly incarcerated communities has spanned four continents. His early advocacy included working against South African apartheid, and he later served as the first director of the Office of Environmental Justice and Tribal Affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s regional office in Dallas. There, he worked with Native Nations and marginalized communities across five states. After returning to Oklahoma, Hook and his wife, Rose, founded the Intercultural Partnership Council, which supports marginalized communities and hosts an annual Two Spirit Celebration. Throughout his career, Hook has worked to advance Native interests and build stronger communities.
