The new Cherokee National Historical Society was established under the Cherokee Heritage Center Act of 2020. The historic legislation created the seven-member advisory board, comprised of Cherokee Nation citizens, to provide critical oversight and guidance for CHC and its holdings as it embarks on this exciting new chapter of stewardship. Members were appointed by the executive, judicial and legislative branches and have worked diligently on strategic planning for the organization and master site plans for the new Cherokee Heritage Center. The organization includes Board Chair Christy Neuhoff and members Bill Davis, Brenda Partain, Calvin Rock, Jack Baker, Susan Plumb and Mildred Taylor.
